FIRST BATCH OF HEADPHONES DELIVERED: AN EMOTIONAL AND HAPPY MOMENT FOR MANY CHILDREN AND YOUTH!
Updated: Apr 14, 2021
At the beginning of April/ end of March, we made a call for headphones for homeless children in temporary housing. Many of you are stepping up by donating headphones and funds to this important project.
On Saturday, April 10, 2021, members of our team, volunteers and two donors delivered 68 headphones to some of the children and youth who reside in temporary housing. We were welcomed with big smiles, cheers and even hugs. Some children were so happy that they jumped on us! We wished that all of you, who are contributing to this project, could feel the warmth, the happiness and the hope that you are restoring in the lives of these amazing young people! A very happy and emotional 11 year old child shared her gratitude with us : "I am very happy! Now I can hear my teacher and I can also close my eyes and escape with my music when my class is done!" As many of you know, because of the increase of COVID-19 cases, Ontario schools are closing to in-person learning indefinitely. This is a challenging time for many members of the community, including homeless children in temporary housing who have to now share their new "learning space" at home with 4, 5, 6 and even 7 siblings at times.
Something as simple as a pair of Headphones can make such a huge difference in their lives. There are a little over 300 homeless families in Ottawa, and over 1000 homeless children and youth who can benefit from Headphones during these unprecedented times. We sincerely thank each one of you who are contributing and helping us make a difference while restoring a sense of hope in the lives of the children, the youth and their families. If you would like to contribute to this project, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or click on our donation page. We will continue to deliver headphones and support as many low-income and homeless children, youth and their family, as we can. We sincerely thank you again. With gratitude, Equal Chance
